John III (Jr.) was born June 19, 1802, Reddies River, Wilkes County, North Carolina, and died about 1845, Hancock County, Indiana. He married September 21, 1825, Reddies River to Lucinda Virginia Kilby, daughter of Abraham and Mary Elizabeth (Rash) Kilby.

The last census for John was 1840 in Brown Twp., Hancock Co., Indiana. The census showed a wife and seven children, three boys and four girls.

Two of John and Lucinda's children are known:
l. Nancy McQuerry b. 1826, Reddies River, Wilkes Co., North Carolina, 2nd wife of Benjamin Gray. 2. John IV McQuery/McQuerry b. 1832, Hancock Co., IN. Both Nancy and John IV were living in Prairieton, Vigo Co., Indiana in 1870.

James McQuerry (brother) and Eli Baldwin (nephew) handled the selling of John's land and belongings to pay his debts the last of 1840s.

It is believed Lucinda may have remarried.
