Elizabeth Lawson Link died in Wainwright, Callaway County, MO, on March 14, 1871, at the age of 49 years and 20 days and was buried at the Epperson Cemetery, Callaway County, MO.
Many years later the farm where the Epperson Cemetery was located was purchased by a man who raised pigs. The pigs were allowed to root the cemetery, and in turn, knocked over stones which angered the Link family. The Link family decided to move the stones (not the bodies) to the Link Cemetery, in order to keep them from being destroyed any further.∼Elizabeth is buried with her husband, John Link, at Epperson Cemetery, but their gravestones were removed to Link Cemetery by the family.
Elizabeth Lawson married John Link in Halifax Co., Virginia, on December 4, 1843. This date is obtained on "FamilySearch.org" [the LDS Family History Library source] and is listed in their record entitled "Virginia Marriages, 1785-1940." This date corresponds with the birthdates of her first four children. There is another record online at "Ancestry.com", entitled "Virginia Marriages, 1740-1850," that states the date as Dec. 4, 1849, but that would be after the births of her first four children.
Elizabeth's husband, John, died on April 19, 1868, at the age of 50 yrs, 1 mo., 4 ds. as stated on his gravestone. The photo of Elizabeth's gravestone states her age at death as being "49 yrs, 20 ds."
