Miss Muriel Myers Married on Thursday
Miss Muriel Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orval Myers, and Lester Bergeson, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.H. Bergeson of Gruver, were united in marriage on Thursday at Spirit Lake.

The wedding took place at the Presbyterian parsonage at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Robert McDaniel officiating.

The couple were attended by a sister of the bridegroom, Miss Esther Bergeson, and the bride's brother, Merlyn Myers.

The bride wore a green crepe dress with black accessories, and her attendant was attired in mahogany with gold accessories. They wore shoulder corsages of talisman roses and sweet peas. The men wore dark suits with white carnations in their lapels.

Following the ceremony the couple left for Des Moines, where they will spend a few days before returning to their home near Gruver, where Mr. Bergeson is farming with his father.

Mrs. Bergeson attended the local high school and graduated from the Superior township consolidated school. Mr. Bergeson received his education in the Gruver schools. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 4, 1938)

Estherville – Funeral services for Muriel Bergeson, 89, of Estherville will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Glenn S. Bohmer officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be held on-hour only prior to the service at the funeral home.

Muriel Maunita Myers, the daughter of Orval and Faye (Johnston) Myers, was born in Buffalo Center, Iowa on Nov. 8, 1915.

She attended school at Estherville and graduated from Superior High School in 1934.

On December 30, 1937, she was united in marriage to Lester Bergeson at the Presbyterian parsonage in Spirit Lake, Iowa. They farmed near Gruver, Iowa, for many years and had five children: Kenneth, Vivian, Bonnie, Ellen and Julie. In 1962, they moved to Estherville where Lester was employed as a night watchman for John Morrell until his retirement. Muriel lived in Hopkins, Minnesota, near her daughter Bonnie for three years and then in Alexandria, Minnesota, near her daughter Vivian for five years. In 1985, she moved back to Estherville where she lived in an apartment at Breezy Acres before making her home at the Good Samaritan Center.

She is survived by her son, Ken Bergeson and his wife, Dixie of Boone, Iowa; four daughters, Vivian Koenecke and her husband, Dean of Alexandria; Bonnie Mitchell of Shakopee, Minnesota; Ellen Johnson and her husband, Phil of Sherburn, Minnesota; Julie Clark and her husband, Larry of Estherville; two grandsons, Daniel and Brett Bergeson; four granddaughters: Debra Lund and her husband, Michael, Dawn Follese and her husband, Jim, Jessica Heidecker and Tara Hinderks and her husband, Jon; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Nelle Anderson and her husband, Francis of Royal, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
