Frank A. Blackburn, 87, of Route 2, Hayward, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.

Frank was born in Chicago on June 29, 1895. During WWI, he served in the US Navy as a shipfitter. He retired from the Chicago Fire Department in 1949, and had been a Hayward are resident for the past 32 years. He was a member of the VFW and Local #2 Fire Department in Chicago.

Survivors include his wife, Marian; one daughter, Lucille Hager, San Rafael, CA; one granddaughter; three great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and one brother, Arthur, of Florida.

Funeral services were at 2 P.M. Saturday at the Anderson Chapel, with Rev. Frank Benes officiating. Music for the service was provided by Charlene Murdock, organist, and Betty Landgraf, soloist. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Hayward, with military rites accorded by the Hayward Veterans Council. Visitation was from 4-9 PM Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home.

Casketbearers were Mike Blackburn, Raymond Edmunds, John Harapat, Ed Komrska, Emil Sirota, and Bob Wilson.
