Catharine was one of twelve children born to Adam Markley, Jr. and his wife Mary M. Dickensheets. Catharine married Abraham V. Fry, a son of Benjamin Fry and his first wife, Ruth Couright. Abe and Catharine married on March 15, 1810 in Muskingham (now Coshocton) County, Ohio. Five sons are known to have been born to this union.
