Gladys O. Griffith, 83 Norris City, died at 4:15 p.m. Friday, March 15,2002 at her son's home in Herrin.
Mrs. Griffith was born Jan. 3, 1919 in Norris City, the daughter of Eben and Ida (Bryant) Sanders. She married the Rev. Frank Griffith June 15, 1938, and he preceded her death in Jan. 25, 1988. Mrs. Griffith was a homemaker and member of Albion Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Norris City.
Surviving are five sons and daughters-in law, Richard C. and Sandy Griffith of Braidwood, James N. and Jan, Joseph F. Jr. and Cheryl, Gerald R. and Brenda, and Dennis E. and Amber Griffith, all of Herrin; five grandchildren and their spouses, Dax and Susan Griffith, Dara and Greg Whaley, Erik Griffith, Angela and William Holderfield and Melissa Kaitlin, Mikaila and Joshua Griffith and James Gregory Whaley III; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Carl and Flora Sanders of Norris City. Laymond Sanders of Harrisburg and Bobby and Phyllis Sanders of Fairfield.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, the Rev. Kevin Peyton officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F Cemetery near Norris City. Visitation will be from 5-8 tonight at the funeral home.
