Carla Gayle Hendrickson, 64, of Victor, Montana, died May 23, 2006, in Victor. She was born July 30, 1941, in Hamilton, Montana, to Lester and Grace Thompson. She graduated from Darby High School and married Rex Hendrickson in 1959. They had three children. Carla and Rex began ranching near Corvallis in 1961 and later operated the Bitterroot Livestock Market in Hamilton from 1971 until 1978. Carla had a wonderful sense of style, which she used to restore her 1908 home, to design distinctive dried-floral arrangements and to build rock walls in her yard. She also enjoyed sewing, oil painting and traveling. She will be remembered most fondly for the encouragement that she gave her family and others to pursue their dreams.

She is survived by her husband, Rex; children: Leslie Hughes, Laurie Stein, and Daen Hendrickson; eight grandchildren; a brother, Bud Thompson; and two adopted sisters, Thea McKinney and Deanne Dixon.

No funeral is planned. A memorial will be held July 30 at the ranch.
