Roger Barton Leonhardt, 64, of 5038 Hurricane Hill Road, Granite Falls, died Monday, November 12, 2012 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.

Born March 5, 1948 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Elmer Louico Leonhardt and Betty Lou Lipps Leonhardt. He was owner and operator of Farmers Fertilizer, Smokey Dan Kennels and Vale Grain. Mr. Leonhardt was a member of Hoyle Memorial Christian Fellowship Church, American Kennel Club and served in the US Army during Vietnam.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Eric Leonhardt.

Survivors include his wife, Violet Farley Leonhardt; stepson, Derrik Casto of Granite Falls; stepdaughter, Drema Stilwell and husband, Todd of Conover; four stepgrandchildren, Brandon Casto, Adrik Casto, Tyler Stilwell and Hannah Stilwell; three brothers, Keith Leonhardt and wife, Kathy, David Elmer Leonhardt and Jonathan Evan Leonhardt all of Vale; two sisters, Gail Morrison of Vale and Deborah and Kirby Gantt of Lawndale; nieces and nephews, Dustin and Devin Gantt, Katrina Childers and husband, Rodney and children, Brody and Gavin, Chad Leonhardt, Lacey Leonhardt, Maddie Leonhardt, Jada Hullette and children Koragan and Maddox Hullette, Charlinda Price, Natasha Perez and husband, Carlos and son Fabian Perez, Sean Hildebran, Somer Price, Jessica Leonhardt, Tami Summey and husband, Mike, and children, Colton, Marissa, Cooper and Christian.

Visitation: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, Hoyle Memorial Christian Fellowship, Lawndale. At other times the family will be at the home of David Leonhardt, 2354 Smokey Dan Kennel Road, Vale.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, Hoyle Memorial Christian
Fellowship, Lawndale.

Officiating: Rev. Dick Chapman
