Died at the Age of 103 Years.
Mrs. Phebe Adams, whose maiden name was Phebe Mead, died near Altay, N. Y., January 20th, 1892, at the age of 103 years. She was bom in Sussex county, N. J., in the year 1789, and moved to the vicinity of Altay with her husband about sixty years ago, where she has since resided, surviving her husband by seventeen years. Her marriage to John Adams took place about eighty years ago, and of their ten children six are still living—David and Harrison of Hornellsville, James of Nebraska, Mrs. Harriet Harpending of Altay, Mrs. P. Van Scoy of Elmira, and Mrs. Maria Dixon of Michigan. The oldest child alive is seventy-nine years of age. The oldest child if living would be eighty three.
In early life Mrs. Adams became a Christian, uniting with the Altay Baptist church fifty years ago. She lived in the fullest hope and fond expectation of a Christian reward in the better world.
The funeral was held at Altay on Friday, January 22d, Rev. L. D. Worth officiating.
