Canton – Erland F. Hamlin, 87, formerly of Chesterville, died early Sunday morning at the Victorian Villa Nursing Home in Canton. He was born in Farmington, June 11, 1925, a son of George and Georgia Collins Hamlin.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and on June 11, 1948, he married Phyllis Searles. She died in 2003. Mr. Hamlin worked at Forster Manufacturing, Inc. in East Wilton until his retirement in 1986.
Mr. Hamlin enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by his son, Tom Hamlin and his wife, Kay of East Dixfield; two daughters, Peggy Essman and her husband, Peter of Wilton and Bethany Fitzgerald and her husband, Terry of Three Rivers, TX; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; He was predeceased by 2 granddaughters; and a sister, Lucile Smith.
Graveside services will be held at the New Maine Veteran's Cemetery in Augusta. (Wiles Remembrance Center)
