Willis Dowd died in St. Petersburg, Florida where he had moved some 15 years before. He was a native of Moore County, but had lived here in Guilford County most of his life.
He was survived by a brother, H. F. Dowd of Greensboro, six sisters, Mrs. Emma Barnett, Mrs. George Doggett, and Mrs. Lee Burch, all of Charlotte; Mrs. Fleet Small of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. John Van Dresser of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Leila Dowd of St. Petersburg.
