He was born in Jay County on October 9, 1922, the son of William and Blanche (Hodge) Jones. He was married June 9, 1946 to Bettie Nelson, who survives. He was retired from Quick Plastics in Portland and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He attended Asbury United Methodist Church and was a member of American Legion Post #221, 40/8, Portland Elks, and Portland Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Bettie; and one son, Gary Jones of Portland.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Dillie presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post #211. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to American Red Cross.
