John "Jack" Ruskin Knight, Jr.

Jack was born in Port Vue, Pennsylvania on November 1, 1929. He was the son of John Ruskin Knight, Sr. and Nellie Edmundson Knight. He had a brother, Harry E. Knight, who was the first Port Vue soldier killed in World War II. He also had a sister, Mary E. Knight.

John' s father died in 1968; his mother and sister cared for him for many years. When his mother and sister died in 1985, just months apart, Jack went to live with his McPherson cousins in Mrytle Beach, South Carolina for a while. After a short time, Jack was returned to Pennsylvania and was assisted by the Ursuline Senior Services.

Jack Knight never asked much from this life, and he never was heard complaining about anything. Did you know he loved the Pirates? His favorite player was always, Roberto Clemente. Earlier in life, he loved talking to people on his CB radio from his home on Benchoff Street, in Elizabeth. Did you know he loved his job at the drug store in Elizabeth? He dearly loved his mother and sister.

Jack Knight was a sweet and gentle man. He will be missed and remembered.

Jack passed away on May 6, 2009, at age 79. He is buried with his mother and sister at the Round Hill Cemetery.

By: James E. Edmundson, Cousin and Friend.

Johnson Funeral Home, 3411 Wood St., Buena Vista, Pa., 15018. Funeral will be Thursday, May 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Ralph L. Johnson Funeral Home with theh Rev. William Little. Interment is in Round Hill Cemetery. McKeesport Daily News.

CLARIFYING THE AFOREMENTIONED OBIT:

I have no idea who did these obituaries, but for genealogical reasons I have to correct it. Marie Kay Herron was the life-partner of John's sister, Mary Knight. There are no nieces and nephews to my knowledge. If there are, they were the children of his brother, Harry Knight; this is unlikely as they were only married less than five months. Jack never married, and Mary was with Kay.
