Anna Viola Mae (Viola) Rollins passed away at the Crowsnest Care Centre, Blairmore on Wednesday December 28th, 2005 at the age of 93. She leaves to mourn Russel, her beloved husband of 51 years, her sisters Elaine Grant of Red Deer, Gwynne Morice of Calgary, Claudia Baldwin of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Signet Wilson of Sitka, Alaska as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers.
Viola was born December 21, 1912 in Naples, Idaho while her mother was visiting there. She was raised on the family farm at Lancer SK., then moved with the family to Innisfall AB in 1934. In 1943 Viola enlisted in the RCAF, serving as Air Traffic Controller at Vancouver and Patricia Bay during WWII. After the war she attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, graduating with a degree in Agriculture in 1951. In 1954 she married Russel, and they worked together in horticulture for a number of years, then bought a fruit farm in Creston BC which they ran for 21 years before retiring to Pincher Creek where they were warmly welcomed by the community. Viola was an accomplished pianist and continued to play until the onset of her final illness.
At her request there will be no funeral. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Crowsnest Care Centre, Blairmore. Her family would like to thank the staff at Crowsnest Care Centre for caring for her so well, and her friends and neighbors in Pincher Creek for their many kindnesses.
