Wayne W. Cleveland, 85, of rural Clyde, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, in his home.

He was born June 17, 1927, in Green Creek Township, to Wayne F. and Bernice (Eborg) Cleveland.

Wayne attended Green Springs schools and served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for Signal Delivery Services until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Green Springs VFW, Clyde Eagles and Clyde Moose. He was the owner of Cleveland's Market in Clyde and worked for Tony's Bakery in Fremont.

On June 29, 1960, he married Kathryn M. (Thom) Cleveland, and she preceded him in death in March, 2003.

Wayne is survived by his children, Mark Cleveland of Clyde, Sarah (Robert) Preble of Columbus, Fred (Nancy) Cleveland of Republic, Ohio, Cindy (Richard) Geis of Lexington, Ky., Stephen Cleveland of Clyde, Michael Cleveland of Clyde, and Waynetta (Bill) Doyle of Springfield, Ohio; former wife, Nancy Jean (Edwards) Cleveland of Lexington; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his siblings, Marian Myers, Marleen Gerber, Helen Potter, Henry Cleveland, and Carl Cleveland.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the funeral home with Rev. David Gowen officiating. Burial will follow in Green Springs Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Stein Hospice.
