Elias is the son of Elisa S. Presley (~1793-~1857) who was born in Anson County, North Carolina and passed away in Butler County, Alabama and Mary Margaret Moore (~1802-~1879) who was born in South Carolina and passed away in Butler County, Alabama.

On the 4th of January 1861 in Muscogee County, Georgia, Elias married Rebecca Josephine Stinson (1846-1922), daughter of Elias D. Stinson (~1819-~1865) who was born in Pike County, Alabama and passed away in Elmira Military Prison, Elmira, Chemung County, New York and Mary Margaret Moore (~1820-~1857) who was born in Darlington County, South Carolina and passed away in Butler County, North Carolina.

Mrs. Rebecca lost both her husband and her father at Hellmira during the wretched war foisted upon the South by the tyrant and his minions whose names we do not speak. Sic semper tyrannis!
