Canadian Politician. He was a long-serving member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta (or MLA) from 1948 to 1971, having served in cabinets of both Premier of Alberta Ernest Manning (1908-1996), and Premier of Alberta Harry Strom (1914-1984), in various positions from 1952 to 1971. He was born one of two children as Anders Olav Aalborg to Norwegian immigrants Erik Andersson Aalborg (1878-1942), and his wife Ragnhild Eriksdatter Øien Aalborg (1880-1951), in Oxville, Alberta, Canada, on August 24, 1914. He was raised on a farm in rural Alberta and was educated locally and attended common public schools. He then took a post-secondary school education and became a teacher and principal at the Normal School in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He served in those roles at various area schools in the Vermilion River County School District from 1933 to 1952, and as Vice President of the Alberta Teachers' Association from 1945 to 1949. He then became interested in politics and he went onto serve in several different political positions. He ran for a seat as a Candidate for the Social Credit Party in the Legislature Assembly of Alberta and was elected in the Alberta General Election in 1948. After his election win, he was able to hold a solid majority and he ran for reelection three years later winning his seat yet again in a two-way race. A Member of the Social Credit Party, he went onto serve six terms in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for the Alexandria District (later the riding of Lloydminster), and served in a number of cabinet positions and standing committees. He was personally appointed by then-Premier of Alberta Ernest Manning (1908-1996), a Member of the Executive Council of Alberta and as Minister of Education, and served as Minister of Education beginning on September 9, 1952. He then ran for a third term in office with ministerial advantage and won the four-way race with a large majority to return to office in the Alberta General Election in 1955. He ran for a fourth term and slightly increased his popular vote over the easily defeating two other candidates to return to office in the Alberta General Election in 1959. He also ran for a fifth term and easily won the largest popular vote of his political career to easily hold his seat in the Alberta General Election in 1963. The following day he was appointed by then-Premier Ernest Manning (1908-1996), to the post of Provincial Treasurer on July 29, 1964, the same day as when his post of Minister of Education was completed. He ran for a sixth term and won the four-way race with another large majority in the Alberta General Election in 1967. He was then appointed to the post of Minister of Railways and Telephones and served in that position from July 13, 1967, to December 11, 1968. After the then-Premier of Alberta Harry Strom (1914-1984), took office defeating the outgoing-Premier of Alberta Ernest Manning (1908-1996), his tenure as the Minister of Railways and Telephones was completed. He then finished his post as Provincial Treasurer on September 9, 1971. He did not run for a seat in the Alberta General Election in 1971 due to personal health issues and he retired from political office shortly thereafter following the dissolution of the legislative government. This saw the Progressive Conservatives take leadership under Premier of Alberta Peter Lougheed (1928-2012). He spent his remaining years in retirement but health issues plagued him. He suffered a heart attack and six strokes and was helped by th renowned Dr. Tal Talibi at the Edmonton Cardiac Fitness Institute in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to lead a more fast pace lifestyle instead of slowing down. He later volunteered at the Institute for some time before moving to Surrey, British, Columbia, Canada, where he spent his remaining years. He was married to Catherine May Burn Aalborg (1914-2002), in Tofield, Alberta, Canada, on June 19, 1939, and the couple had two children together, including a daughter named Roberta.
