Ronald 'Ronnie' C. Blankenship, age 62, born on September 7, 1948, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his father Fred Blankenship, infant sisters Judy Darlene and Vickie Lynn, grandparents Wade and Nell Sams and Jessie McMahan.
He is survived by his mother Pauline Blankenship of the home; sister Diane (W. T.) Cogdill; brother Arlie (Shelia) Blankenship; nieces and nephews Melissa Taylor, Patti Lewis, Lee Bailey, and Daniel Blankenship; also two special great-nieces Cassidy Lewis and Leanna Taylor, who loved spending time with Ronnie.
In addition Ronnie leaves a host of aunts and uncles, and two special aunts Viola Fine and Maggie McMahan. Ronnie also leaves behind numerous friends, nurses, and CNAs at the Cocke County Convalescent Center.
The family of Ronnie Blankenship would like to extend a special 'Thank You' to all of the staff at Cocke County Convalescent Center, Smoky Mountain Home Health, and Dr. Conner, and all of the nurses at the Baptist Hospital of Cocke County that helped take care of Ronnie.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Bugg officiating with graveside services in the Faubion Cemetery following the funeral services.
The family received friends Monday evening in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home.
