Mrs. Virginia Bellamy, 60, 912 W. Main St., died at 5 p.m. yesterday at King's Daughters' Hospital.
She was a registed nurse, having graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. She was the only Indiana nurse awarded a scholarship to Sister Elizabeth Kenny Institute at Minneapolis. She graduated from there in 1952 as a therapist and worked at Madison State Hospital for eight years and at King's Daughters' Hospital from 1963-1973. She also worked part-time for the Madison Nursing Home.
She had attended the University of Minnesota and Purdue.
She was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ and was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Hanover Eastern State #525.
She was a past secretary of the Indiana Nurses Association, and past secretary of the Past Matrons, Hanover Eastern Star. She also was a member of the Royal Order of Amarantha, Court 13, Lafayatte.
She is survived by one son, Fred Kreneke, Madison, Her father, Ray Armstrong, Bloomington; a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Burger, Tacoma, Wash.; two grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Gans Funeral Home, with burial in Springdale Cemetery,.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. tomorrow.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form on contributions to the Jefferson County Volunteers for Leukemia.
