Edith Austin, 77, of Waco, died Tuesday, October 5, 1999, in Temple. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 1999, in Oakwood Cemetery with Dr, Randy Hughes officiating.

Mrs. Austin was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Floyd and Pearl Threlkeld. She attended local schools. She later married Jack Austin. She was an avid artist and was nationally acclaimed. She also taught for more than 40 years and was a volunteer at Sul Ross Senior Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 24, 1994.

Survivors include son, Larry Douglas Austin, of Waco; two grandchildren; sister, Betty Jean Swiney, of Houston; brother, Ralph Jennings Threlkeld, of Waco; other relatives and many friends.
