Albert Wood Van Zant was born November 1, 1915 and died June 29, 1971 at the age of 55. Albert was the son Mr. & Mrs. John P. Van Zant. Albert is survived by his wife, Virginia Huddleston Van Zant and sons, David L. Van Zant of Elizabethtown and Russell Van Zant of Edmonton, two sisters, Nell Van Zant and Ruth Van Zant, two brothers Henry N. Van Zant and Robert Van Zant; four grand children, Diane, David Lee, Stephen and Susan Van Zant.
Mr. Van Zant was a former Metcalfe County Judge and was a community and civic leader, a member of the Edmonton Baptist Church, a deacon of the church for many years and a Sunday School teacher for more than 20 years. He and his sister Ruth were editors of Edmonton Herald News for 30 years. At the time of his death he was a hardware dealer, He was a director and vice president of Tri-county Electric Service,; He was president of Metcalfe County Library Board. He was member Edmonton Lions Club, Edmonton Masonic Lodge and many other organizations. Interment was at Edmonton Cemetery and funeral conducted by Butler Funeral Home, Rev. Frank Tupper officiated.
