David Burkhart, aged 70 years, the first barber to locate in Taylor Springs, where he conducted a shop for many years, was stricken with apoplexy and dropped dead on Friday afternoon last week, September 27 while picking grapes in the yard of August Bernadine.
The deceased was born Jan. 11, 1859 at Johnstown, PA., where he married and followed his trade for a number of years. After the death of his first wife he came to Hillsboro in 1907 and married Mrs. Ellen Beeler who survives him. He leaves on son, W. W. Burkhart of Johnstown, Pa., and a daughter, Mrs. Elda Sheridan, of Baltimore, Md.
The deceased followed the barber trade for more than forty years and he conducted a shop at Taylor Springs from the time that village was first established. Coroner George Chase held an inquest over the remains Friday morning and the jury returned a verdict of finding his death due to natural causes.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Clear Springs church southeast of town with Rev. Thomas G. Melton officiating. Burial was made in the Clear Springs cemetery.
