Myrtle was the daughter of Myron and Fannie (Stowell) Pratt. She lived at Wolsey, SD at the time of her marriage to William F. Cadwell, Sep. 2, 1906, in Lawrence county, SD. They were married for 40 years. On May 11, 1954, in Deuel county, S.D., Myrtle married Delmer Lee Chaplin. Delmer was Myrtle's brother-in-law, as he had been married for 47 years to Elvira Cadwell, sister to William Cadwell.

Myrtle and Delmer spent the last three years of their lives together.
