Mrs. A. S. Gibbs, a respected resident of DeKalb county since 1855, died at her home in Kingston on Saturday last. She had been suffering for about six months with cancer, which caused her death.
Mila Jane Bacon was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Bacon and was born in Potter county, Penn., on May 21, 1853. She came with her parents to DeKalb county, Ill., in 1845, and grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Kingston. She married on March 20, 1873, in Flora township, Boone county, to A. S. Gibbs. They became residents of Kingston in 1881. To Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs were born five children: three sons, Roy of Sunnyside, Wash., Clayton of Chicago and Ross of Beloit, Wis., and two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Farrell of DeKalb and Mrs. Samuel Daniels of Kingston. There is also surviving her husband, her parents and her sister Mrs. Edward Brown, all of whom are residents of Kingston. Mrs. Gibbs was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. She was a loving wife and devoted mother and always ready to lend a helping hand to the afflicted and assist all who were in trouble.
The funeral services were held at the Baptist churh in Kingston at 11 o'clock a.m. on Thursday, Rev. E. J. Houghton of Chicago officiating, and the remains were interred in Kingston cemetery.

After a month of intense suffering with an affliction in the neck causing unbearable pains in the head, Mrs. A. S. Gibbs was called to lay down life's burden at her home Saturday afternoon, Nov. 18, at 3:05, surrounded by her family who have tenderly watched and cared for the wife and mother. Her death was not unexpected as she had been lying at the dangerous point for many weeks and for some time little hopes that she would finally recover had been entertained. Mila Jane Bacon, the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Bacon, was born in Potter Co., Pennsylvania May 21, 1853. She came with her parents to DeKalb County, Illinois in 1855. Later, they moved to Boone County where she spent her early life. Her marriage to Ammie S. Gibbs occured March 20, 1873. Their married life was spent in and about Kingston with the exception of nearly two years in Kansas.
To this union were born six children, five of whom survive her, Rena dying in infancy. Roy A. residing in Sunnyside, Washington; Clayton D. in Chicago; Mildred E. Farrell, in DeKalb; Ross R. in Beloit, Wisconsin and Mary E. Daniels, in Kingston. Those who remain to survive her, beside her husband and five children, are her aged parents, a sister, Mrs. Mary Brown and a brother, Elmer Bacon and seven grandchildren.
The funeral services were held in the Baptist church Tuesday at 11 o'clock, E. J. Houghton, of Chicago, officiating. Interment in Kingston cemetery. Floral pieces were numerous and beautiful showing the esteem in which she was held.

There is also surviving her husband, her parents and her sister Mrs. Edward Brown, all of whom are residents of Kingston. Mrs. Gibbs was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. She was a loving wife and devoted mother and always ready to lend a helping hand to the afflicted and assist all who were in trouble.
The funeral services were held at the Baptist churh in Kingston at 11 o'clock a.m. on Thursday, Rev. E. J. Houghton of Chicago officiating, and the remains were interred in Kingston cemetery.

Later, they moved to Boone County where she spent her early life. Her marriage to Ammie S. Gibbs occured March 20, 1873. Their married life was spent in and about Kingston with the exception of nearly two years in Kansas.
To this union were born six children, five of whom survive her, Rena dying in infancy. Roy A. residing in Sunnyside, Washington; Clayton D. in Chicago; Mildred E. Farrell, in DeKalb; Ross R. in Beloit, Wisconsin and Mary E. Daniels, in Kingston. Those who remain to survive her, beside her husband and five children, are her aged parents, a sister, Mrs. Mary Brown and a brother, Elmer Bacon and seven grandchildren.
The funeral services were held in the Baptist church Tuesday at 11 o'clock, E. J. Houghton, of Chicago, officiating. Interment in Kingston cemetery. Floral pieces were numerous and beautiful showing the esteem in which she was held.
