CHESAPEAKE - Leslie R. Brittingham, 73, of the 2700 block of Roadside Lane, passed away June 17, 2003.
Born in Norfolk to the late Leslie R. Brittingham Sr. and Nellie F. Brittingham, he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. Afterwards, he was employed in the building supply industry and later was the successful owner and president of L.R. Brittingham Co. Inc.
He is survived by a son, Richard A. Brittingham and wife Inez of Chesapeake; daughter, Susan B. Libbon and husband Joseph of Virginia Beach; two grandsons, Andy and Jeffrey Brittingham; a brother, Donald L. Brittingham and wife Betty of Virginia Beach; two aunts, Katie Hill and Agnes Birdzell, both of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces and cousins. The children would like to thank their mother, Katherine B. Brittingham for her support during their father's illness.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Lung Association. A private burial will be held at a later date.
