James K. Polk Davis was born ca 1840 in Crawford County, Missouri. He married twice. First ca. 1865 to Mary (maiden name unknown) In 1870 James and Mary are living in Crawford County, Missouri and have three children:

Nancy age 2
Sarah age 1

His wife Mary and two children Nancy and Sarah die sometime between 1870 and 1872. He married Sarah Louise Gipson 21 October 1872 in Crawford County, Missouri and they appear on the Crawford County, Missouri 1880 census. In the household with them is Mary Davis age 14 daughter of James K. Polk Davis and his first wife and 3 children of James and Sarah Louise Gipson – Samuel age 6, Malinda 4 and Ida age 3. James and his family moved from Missouri to Parker County Texas between 1883 and 1885. They moved to Love County, Oklahoma ca 1900 and by 1910 were living in Texas County, Oklahoma. James K.
