Mr. Marshall was born of Christian parents, at Poultney, Vt., where he resided until his removal to Pewaukee, in this County, about 19 years ago. He was a man who has always been regarded as possessing stirling worth as a scholar, a Christian and a citizen. Owing to a serious accident received by him soon after his marriage, he had not been able to mingle with the outside world extensively, but his counsel was often sought and utilized by those who knew his worth. He lived a humble Christian life, and had great regard for God's holy word. He sought, for half a century, to attain a degree of holiness such that he could feel himself worthy to become a member of the Christian Church, but never, in his own estimation, attained the object of his desire, although all who knew him esteemed him as a good Christian.
His companion, who lived with her husband for about 50 years, and who died six months before him was a worthy member of the Baptist Church of Waukesha. They have left a family consisting of three sons and four daughters, all members of the Church of Christ. May the good example of their loved parents lead them on to great attainment in a holy life.
