Billy Joe Stewart was born on February 9, 1935 in St. Louis, MO the son of Alvie Stewart and Georgie (Jennings) Stewart. He passed from his life on October 24th, 2012 at his home after a long illness in Eminence, MO at the age of 77 years.
Billy was united in marriage to Peggy Johnson on June 18, 1960. He later married Donna Batson Keenum on June 10, 1995 in Washington, MO.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents Alvie and Georgie Stewart; one brother Claude Stewart; one sister Ollie Mae Dooley and a much loved step father Chester Burrus.
Billy is survived by his wife Donna Stewart of Eminence, MO; two step sisters Barbara Howard and Husband Bob of Jefferson City, MO and Mary Ann Wright and Husband Jim of Sullivan, MO; one son Mark Stewart and fiance Chrissy Sportsman of St. Charles, MO; one daughter Wendy Stewart and fiance John Highly of Park Hill, MO; one step son Billy Keenum and wife Lorri of Washington, MO; one step daughter Mischki Soete and husband Bill of New Haven, MO; 10 grandchildren Amy, Dustin, Alisha, Will, Grace, Kolby, Keaton, Katie, Maddie and Brendan; 5 great grandchildren Malichi, Landon, Annie, Amelia and Sam; and a host of other family and friends.
Billy received his education in Eminence, MO where he enjoyed singing in the choir, and graduated Eminence High School in 1954. He served in the Military from 1958 – 1964. Billy was baptized at West Eminence First Christian Church in 2002. Billy worked as a driver for Greyhound Lines, Inc. for over 28 years, where he received numerous safety awards. Additionally Billy worked for Beelman Trucking Company for 5 years. He enjoyed multiple hobbies including Fishing (especially Gigging), Hunting (Deer and Squirrels), Birdhouse Building, Recipe Box Building and took great pride in his yard work. Billy also spent many happy hours with his family on the river at Blue Springs. During Billy's 77 years of life, we don't know of anyone who ever met him, and did not adore him. He will be missed by many.
