Precious in the sight of the Lord are the death of His Saints. Hugh Green went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012. He will be missed by family and friends but we know he is in a better place.

Hugh was the second son of Elmer M. Green and Ana Byrl Van Horn Green. He was born on May 11, 1919, in Carbon County, Utah. The family moved to Jerome County, Idaho, in the spring of 1936.

Hugh served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy.

He and his dad farmed together until his father's death in 1968. Hugh always had horses around. He took his girls riding whenever he could spare the time. Every fall Hugh would go hunting, mostlywith men in his church.

For several years, he and Glen Ferrell drove draft horses together. They broke several horses to drive. One grandson grew up in grandpa's yard. Many days he would slip out of his house and ask grandpa "where are we going today."

Church was a vital part of his life from the time of his salvation. He was in church when work allowed and made sure his family was there when he couldn't be there. He served on the Deacon Board for many years, was on the finance committee many years, and was church treasurer for several years.

Hugh instilled into his children and grandchildren the value of hard work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ana Green; his brothers, Morris and A. Dee Green; and his wife, Rhoda Green. Survivors include his sister, Neva Andrews in Minnesota; his daughters, Alicia Evangelista (Ovidio) of Brighton, Colo., Judy Broadfield (Richard) and Bonnie Miller (Gary), both of Jerome; and 14 grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Grace Baptist Church in Twin Falls. Interment will follow at the Jerome Cemetery.
