The son of Albert Knight and May Anderson, Paul served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a sergeant when he received his discharge from the service.

Paul married Vera "Vivian" Morgan on 04 Sep 1970 in South Roxana, Madison County, Illinois. However, obituaries published in the Alton Evening Telegraph indicate that Paul and Vivian were the parents of 2 children, a girl and a boy, who died in early childhood in 1951 and 1954, respectively.

When she married Paul in 1970, Vivian was the widow of Herschel Ballew. Hershel was the father and step-father of 9 children from a prior marriage to Vivian's sister who was killed in an automobile accident in 1957.

In 1994, Paul died at CGH Hospital just 4 days after his 74th birthday. He was survived by his wife, Vivian; 1 daughter; and 3 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by 1 daughter; 1 son; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.

Visitation was held at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, Illinois on 03 Feb 1994. Graveside rites were conducted at 1:30 p.m. on the following afternoon.

Paul's second wife, Vivian, passed away in 2006 and was buried next to him.

Children: 2 daughters, 1 son.
