John H. Anglin Jr., 70, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, in Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L'Anse, Mich.

He was born Oct. 20, 1942, in Warsaw to John H. and E. "Bette" (Mikesell) Anglin.

He graduated from Atwood High School in 1960 and Purdue University in 1965 with a degree in forestry.

John served in the U.S. Army as an airborne ranger and served with the Indiana Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged at Staff Sgt. John H. Anglin.

He married Lorraine Albert on Nov. 30, 1975, at the Clunette United Methodist Church, Clunette, Ind.

In 1967, John joined his father and uncles at Clunette Elevator Co. in Clunette, Indiana. At the time of his death, John was the president and co-owner of Clunette Elevator Co. as well as a Certified Crop Advisor

He was an active member of Clunette United Methodist Church where he was its administrative chairman, a lay leader and member of the choir. While at Purdue he was affiliated with Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He served on the Kosciusko REMC board since 1976 and as its board chairman since 1983; was a past member of the Soil and Water Conservation District and the Indiana Pork Producers Association; a board member of the Potawatomi Park and past chairman of the Indiana Plant Food and Agriculture Chemical Association. He was a member of the Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge #149 F. & A.M. where he was a past master mason; also was a past master mason of the Leesburg Lodge #181 F. & A.M.; member of the American Legion #49 (Warsaw), Scottish Rite (Fort Wayne, Indiana) Atwood Lions Club and the Snow Valley Riders Snowmobile Club, Kosciusko County Farm Bureau; active supporter of 4-H; enjoyed the outdoors and anything and everything to do with agriculture.

His day started at 4 a.m. when he would open the elevator and prepare for each day's activities. He was always ready with a big smile, a hug and kind words. He was a faithful mentor to nieces, nephews and youth in the community. He and Lorraine opened their Clunette home and property often to youth groups, 4-H clubs, Amish neighbors, church picnics and other neighbors who came to fish in the pond and enjoy the solitude.

Every August, church members would gather at the mill to freeze ice cream for the annual Clunette Methodist Church Ice Cream Social. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, he would join many church friends and guests for the annual Harvest Supper and Auction where John would help as auctioneer.

John and Lorraine purchased a cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan two years ago where they enjoyed many peaceful times with family and friends fishing in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. It was there in the U.P. that John peacefully went to meet his Lord and Saviour.
