ALEXANDRIA - A Mass of Christian Burial for Esther C. Chicola will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2009 in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Alexandria under the direction of John Kramer & Son.
Esther C. Chicola, 93, of Alexandria, passed away, Friday, June 26, 2009 in Cornerstone Assisted Living, Lafayette.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Chicola, M.D. and one daughter, Charlene Baker.
Mrs. Chicola was a graduate from Hotel Dieu in New Orleans where she received her R.N. She met her husband, Vincent Chicola, while he was a medical student at LSU. Mrs. Chicola was active in the Alexandria and the Louisiana State Medical Auxiliary and the Central Louisiana Garden Club. She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church where she was a charter member.
Esther Chicola is survived by five daughters, Carolyn Chicola Richard of Lafayette, Teal Chicola Fresh of Lafayette, Dr. Catherine Chicola of Eugene, OR, Cynthia Chicola Appley of Lafayette and Leecie Chicola Kennedy of Lafayette; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009 and from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday at John Kramer & Son.
A Christian Wake service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
