Patricia Ann Weston Coggins, 81, of Ladysmith, passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Ladysmith Care Community.
Pat was born July 17, 1931, to Theron Arthur Weston and Bernice Elaine Gable Weston, the second of two children. She grew up in Ladysmith, attended the old South Side School, the Ladysmith Junior High and high school. She graduated in 1949 and, upon completion of high school, went to work at Ditmanson's. She later went to work for the Cook Engineering Company, which was busy building the Dairyland Dam. Next she worked as secretary and bookkeeper for the Ladysmith public schools.

On May 31, 1951, Pat married Bryce Coggins at the First Church of Christ in Ladysmith. She moved to Bryce's farm in the Town of Grow, where they lived for six decades until she became ill in fall of 2011.

Pat was a life-long member of the First Church of Christ, active in teaching Sunday school, in the Ladies' group, and in many other activities. She was leader of the local 4-H club for years, as well as a special leader in sewing and cooking. She volunteered for many years at the schools, at Connections, and at other local organizations. In recent years she worked for Indianhead Home Services, caring for people in their homes.

She had six children: Rachel Louise (Bob) Lent of Wisconsin Rapids, David Allen (Laura) Coggins of Manitowoc, Amy Jo (Terry) Johnson of Chippewa Falls, Yvonne Marie (Gary) Stott of Lake Zurich, Ill., Jay Steven (Wendy Rahn) Coggins of St. Paul, Minn., and Janet Sue (Paul) Hetke of Ladysmith. She and Bryce were foster parents to seven foster children.

Pat was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October of 2011 and shortly after that she entered the Ladysmith Care Community, where she resided until her death.
Pat is survived by her husband Bryce Coggins; her six children and their spouses; by 14 grandchildren; by 10 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her only sister Elaine (Weston) Coggins; and one grandson.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at First Church of Christ, 701 Menasha Ave., Ladysmith. A memorial service with Russ Kinney officiating will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with visitation 1 hour prior, also at the Church of Christ.

The Nash-Jackan Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org.
