He was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Bells. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He moved to Slaton in 1947. He married Frances Hale Cagle on Nov. 5, 1971, in Slaton. He retired as a locomotive engineer with the Santa Fe Railroad in 1989 after 39 years of service.
He was a member of the BLE Union and Westview Baptist Church, where he was a greeter and usher. He was a member of Slaton Masonic Lodge 1094, where he was a worshipful master, and also was a volunteer for Slaton Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Susan Norrell of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Elwanda Pruitt of San Diego, Calif., and Juanita Martin of Bonham; and four grandchildren.
