Larry D. (Bud) Whiteley, age 63, a three year resident of Mohave Valley, passed over to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 26, 2009, after having a long battle with cancer. Larry was born April 8, 1945 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran and served bravely during the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime Member of the VFW.
Larry's hobbies included enjoying the company of his wonderful friends from the "Ft. Mohave Over 50 Singles Club". He loved to play golf, ride his motorcycle and meet new friends.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, Linda: mother and father, Evelyn and Ira Whitely; sister Dorothy Henderson; three brothers, Dennis, Thomas and James Whiteley. He is survived by three sons, Mathew and John Whitely of Texas, and Time Whitely of California; two daughters, Holly Douglas of Florida, and Lisa Ray of Colorado; six grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Beverly Whiteley of Mohave Valley; two sisters, Avis Howerton of Carlsbad, NM and his twin sister, Linda and brother-in-maw, Leo Young of Clay Center, KS; and as well as many nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a Christian and military memorial service was conducted at 2 p.m.; Friday, December 5, at the Desert Lawn Funeral Chapel, 9259 South Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, AZ.

Aviation Machinist's Mate (Jet) First Class (ADJ1) Larry Whiteley was a Navy Veteran attached to Helicopter Attack (Light) Squadron Three, HA(L)-3 in Vietnam where he served as a helicopter door gunner from 1971-1972.
