Henry Benjes, watchman of the transfer steamer, Gen. Pierson, at Memphis, fell overboard on the night of the 30th. The body was found on the 1st inst.
His wife, Flora P. Benjes, is listed in the 1883 Memphis City Directory as being the widow of Henry Benjes.

Last Sunday evening H.P. Benjes, watchman on the transfer steamer General Pierson, fell overboard and was drowned near the Arkansas shore. He had been fishing near the guards of the boat, and is supposed to have been asleep when he fell overboard. He was about thirty years old, and resided in Chelsea, where he has a wife and child.
