My great-grandfather was a Christmas present to my great-great grandparents, "Carter" White and Ann Bragg, one of 10 children. He and Fannie Susan Overton were married in Lunenburg at the home of her parents, Richard John Overton and Millie Edmunds Bass, on Dec. 20, 1892 in Lunenburg County, VA. They were blessed with 3 daughters and 3 sons.

Grandpa White was a lifelong farmer, and he loved it. In a letter to my dad, who was about 5 at the time, he wrote about a new litter of piglets, calling them "the prittiest little pigs you ever saw." He lived to age 86.

His siblings were:
William Tell (Telemicus?) White; Frances Elizabeth "Fannie" White Pennington b. 29 Jun 1858, died 1884-1887, wife of Josephus P. Pennington; John Carter White b. abt Aug 1860, died aft 1930; Mary Edward "Molly" White Clarke; Luvenia Mary White Satterfield b. abt 1863, died 1900-1910, wife of Charles Nicholas Satterfield; Robert Lee White; Jessimine "Virgie" White Crenshaw, b. 8 May 1871, died 1910-1912, second wife of Henry Neal Crenshaw; and Charles Cameron White.

Grandpa White was a son of Edward "Carter" White (abt 1832-1912) and Ann Elizabeth Bragg (abt 1835-May 1891), who were married 12 Dec 1855, Lunenburg County, VA. Carter White served in the CSA (Company "H" of the 59th Regiment of Wise's Brigade), being discharged after one year for medical reasons. He applied for a Confederate pension that was approved on April 15, 1909.

Ann Elizabeth Bragg White was born to Frances McDonald Crenshaw and William Lyles Bragg, Sr (b. 17 Dec 1805 in Lunenburg County, VA). William Bragg also served the CSA, in Company H, Virginia 59th Infantry Regiment. They were married on 24 Oct 1831 in Mecklenburg County, VA.
