BERRY  LYNN TAYLOR
Berry Lynn Taylor, 92, of 3023 Crystal Lake Drive, Elizabeth City, North Carolina died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at his home.  Born and raised in Ohio County, Kentucky,he was the son of the late Berry Lee and Elba Bean Taylor and was the husband of the late Fannie Hogue Taylor.  Mr. Taylor was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict where he served in the United States Navy as a Chief Electrician's Mate on several aircraft carriers.  He retired from IBM in 1976 in Lexington, Kentucky and moved to Winter Haven, Florida where he substitute taught in the Polk County school system until 1999.  Mr. Taylor moved to Elizabeth City, North Carolina in 2008 with his wife and resided with his son Berry and daughter-in-law Bernie.  He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church, Winter Haven, Florida and an Associate Member of Grace United Methodist Church, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
 
Mr. Taylor is survived by two sons, Berry Lynn Taylor, II and wife Bernatha of Elizabeth City, North Carolina and Paul Allen Taylor and wife Sandra Lynn of Winter Springs, Florida; two grandsons, Luke Paul Taylor and Benjamin Lee Taylor, both of Winter Springs, Florida; a sister, Mary K. Duvall and husband George of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; many nieces and nephews; and loving caregivers and neighbors, Aimee and Billy Adams.  In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Zelma Lee, Dorothy and Ann; and three brothers, T.P., Owen Iler and Harold.
 
A funeral service will take place Saturday, August18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Greenway officiating and Masonic Rites.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors by the United States Navy and the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post 6060. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Grace United Methodist Church, 1822 North Road Street, Elizabeth City, North Carolina 27909.  Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, North Carolina is assisting the Taylor family.Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.twifordfh.com.
