Was Born in Steamburg 49 Years Ago - Lived Her Entire Life in this Vicinity
The death of Mrs. Anna McGinity Darling, wife of Claud Darling, occurred at her home in Conewango Valley friday evening, May 29, following an illness of about two months duration. Mrs. Darling suffered an operation more than a year ago and since has been in more or less delicate health; jaundice was given as direct cause of her death.
Mrs. Darling was daugher of Henry and Ann Murphy McGinity and was born in Steamburg March 8, 1876. When a small child she moved with her parents to Randolph, where the greater part of her girlhood days were spent. On January 20, 1902, she was united in marriage with Claude Payne Darling of Conewango. One son, Garner Bernard Darling, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Darling. She was a devoted wife and mother and leaves behing her an influence and memory that will be lasting. Her going is a loss that will be felt, not by the few, but by a large circle of friends.
Besides the husband and son, Mrs. Darling is survived by three brothers and three sisters, as follows: J. D. McGinity, Olean; S. E. McGinity, Salamanca; H. M. McGinity, Randolph; Mrs. C. D. Hitchcock, Pope; Mrs. H. C. Abbey and Miss Alice Mcginity, Randolph.
The funeral was held from the home in Conewango Valley Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock and from St. Patrick's church in Randolph at 10 o'clock; Rev. Father Linchen of Limestone conducted the services, which were largely attended by relatives and friends. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, each testifying in its silent way the high esteem in which Mrs. Darling was held. Interment took place in St. Patrick's cemetery, Randolph. Father Linehan officated at the grave, assisted by two altar boys. Those acting as bearers were: C. D. Hitchcock, J. D. McGinity; H. C. Abbey, S. E. McGinity, H. M. McGinity, Harold McGinity and Carey Jenks.
Those present from away were: Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McGinity, sons Harold and Edward and daughters Ann Lorette and Margaret, of Olean; Mr. and Mrs. S. E. McGinity, Salamanca; Mr. and Mrs. John McGinity and son John, Jr., Mrs. Herman Hansan and Mrs. Leo Murphy, Jamestown; Mrs. Ray Wilcox, Corry, Pa.; and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marks, Buffalo."
