Bill J. Phillips,55, of Jacksonville died Monday morning, June 22,1987 at Passavant Hospital. He was born Sept 21,1931 in Jacksonville, son of William Patrick Phillips and Ruth Ella Dieckman Phillips. He married Muriel Widmer Nov.25,1977 in Springfield and she survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Ruth of Jacksonville ;three sons, Mark(Kara) Phillips of Murrayville,IL.,Dale,(Tammy) Phillips of Waverly Il and Andy Phillips of Jacksonville,IL; one daughter Mrs. Rick (Tracy) Gotschall of Jacksonville. Two brothers, John of Jacksonville,IL. and Tom of Murrayville,IL.;four sisters,Mrs Richard (Jackie)Hermes of Alexander,IL.,Mrs Don (Pat) Covey of Evansville,Ind. Mrs. Don (Marge) Mathews of Roodhouse,IL. and Mrs Keith(Dixie) Pennell of Murrayville,IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Patrick Phillips and his stepfather, Clyde Phillips.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict,a memeber of American Legion Post 279 in Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Moose Lodge and VFW Post 1379. He was a serviceman at Sooy Gas Co. in Jacksonville,IL.
Funeral services will be held 10am Thursday at the Mackey-Dawes Funeral Home in Murrayville with burial at Murrayville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4pm Wednesday at the funeral home,where the family will meet friends rom 7-9pm. Memorials are suggested to the Jacksonville Paramedic Unit.
