Eleanore Anne ""Ellie"" (Bare) Kapel, 85, a longtime resident of Munson Township, went to Heaven on Oct. 25, 2012.
Mrs. Kapel was born June 15, 1927, in Trail Run, a small coal-mining town south of Cambridge. A graduate of Villa Angela High School, she was president of Cleveland Metroparks Board of Commissioners from 1983 to 1988. A member of Berkshire Hills Women's Golf Association, she volunteered at Cleveland's Open Golf Tournament in 1964 and 1965. She was a longtime member of St. Anselm Parish, Young of Hearts Club at St. Anselm and a member of SNPJ Lodge.
Eleanore worked alongside her beloved husband, Milan Sr., a prominent builder and developer in Euclid, on such projects as Charter House Inn, Brea-Burn Medical Center, Park Hill Medical Center, Quail Hollow Inn, Berkshire Hills Country Club and other properties in northeast Ohio.
Her hobbies included golf, traveling, cooking, reading, gardening and taking care of her family. She was known for her distinctive generosity, kind-heartedness and understanding.
Survivors are her children, Carole A. Broderick, Milan S. Jr., Marianne (Kenneth) MacLean, and Kevin M. (Yayek Kuscahyowulan); grandchildren, Kevin M. Kapel II, Dayna R. Kapel, Justin K. (Stacy) MacLean, and Alison R. (Kirk) Williams; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Branisel; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milan S. Kapel Sr.; brother, John Bare; and sisters, Evalyn Fier and Rosalie Bare.
The family will receive friends in celebration of Eleanore (Ellie's) life from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at St. Anselm Church, 13055 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Interment will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
