Sarah (went by Sally) Rothrock was the third of four known children of Philip Rothrock (1785-1825) and Susannah Hege (1800-1822), who married on 31 Jan 1814 at Friedberg, Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

Sally married Jacob Wesner (1811-1895) on 28 Mar 1838 at Davidson County, North Carolina. The children of this family all seemed to have used the Weesner spelling for the surname. Sally and Jacob were the parents of five known children, namely:

1. William David Weesner (1840-1913)
2. Susanna Weesner Chitty (1843-1874)
3. Sarah Jane Weesner Summerfield Pierce Davis (1852-p1880?)
4. Lucy Catherine Weesner Nelson (1855-1906)
5. Mary E. Weesner Chitty Simmons (1858-1939)

Sally and Jacob are thought to be buried at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery, at West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois (can anyone confirm this?). In 1850 the parents and first two children were living at Forsyth County, North Carolina. In 1860 the parents and all five children were living at South Fork Township, Forsyth County, North Carolina. In 1870 the family (parents and last three children) were living at the Salem Precinct, Edwards County, Illinois. In 1880 the parents were living at Salem Precinct, Edwards County, Illinois. A Catherine Grubb, age 12, born Illinois, parents born North Carolina, was living with them in 1880. All of the children were born in North Carolina. The eldest child, William, was known to have gone by the surname of Weesner. Did the rest of the children also use that spelling? A descendant of this family said that the family originally came to Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana and then returned to North Carolina. They later migrated to Illinois by train.

Links to Sally's parents, husband, four of her five known children and two of her three known siblings are included below.
