OBIT. - Richard Drane, a former citizen of this county, died at the residence of his son, James, at Blackburn, Mo., on the 16th, aged 88 years.

OBIT. - Died, at his son's residence in Saline county, Mo., on the 16th of April, 1886, Richard Drane, aged 88 years and 2 months. Mr. Drane was born in Prince George Co., Maryland, February 16th, 1798; was married to Susan J. West February 4th, 1834; came to Missouri in 1839, and first settled in Marion county, afterwards settled in Monroe county, where he made his home for many years. Thus he was favorably known by many of the older citizens of Marion, Monroe and Shelby counties. Mr. Drane was kind, impulsive and generous to a fault--no one in distress ever went from his door empty-handed. He recognized fully his duty to God and his neighbor; was an earnest and devout member of the Episcopal church, and when death approached he was not only willing but anxious to go. His aged wife, over 80 years old, survives him, also six children. Thus, the first link in the chain of the family circle is broken.

THE PALMYRA SPECTATOR - April 30, 1886

OBIT. - Mr. Richard Drane Sr. died at the residence of his son, James E. Drane, north of town, Friday the 16th inst. Mr. D. was one of our oldest and most honored citizens, and his family have the sympathy of the entire community.
