Married to Elizabeth High, May 3, 1882 at Valley Falls, Kans. To them were born six children, three of whom are still living. The living children are Mrs. Andrew Azlein of Coin, Iowa, Mrs. Henry Myers and Raymond Acheson of Effingham. After Elizabeth's death he married Jennie Hamner Neil, the widow of Charley Neil.

J. W. Acheson Dies
J. W. Acheson, 80, farmer and a resident of Effingham vicinity since childhood, died at 3:30 a. m. today at his home in the Prairie View community. He became suddenly ill at 6 o'clock last night. I is believed he suffered a stroke.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Monday at the Effingham Methodist church, the Rev. Phonce Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in the Effingham cemetery. Stutz-Shifflet are in charge. the pallbearers will be Clifford Hawk, Ross Meador, Frank Konecne, William Sells, Bert Valenting and Frank Sever.
Mr. Acheson's birth occurred in Carroll county, Ohio, April 19, 1811. He came to Atchison county with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Alex Acheson, when eight years old, May 3, 1882, he married Mary E. High of Valley Falls. Six children were born to them. She died April 24, 1917. In March , 1918, Mr. Acheson married Jennie Neil. For several years Mrs. Acheson lived in Effingham and also in the Maple Grove community. He was a member of the Methodist church and the IOOF lodge.
A farmer who took pride in his crops, Mrs. Acheson was an excellent citizen and good neighbor and was a great lover of horses.
Surviving are his wife, three children, Mrs. A. A. Azelein, Santa Barbara, Calif., Mrs. Henry Meyer, Nortonville, and Raymond Acheson, Effingham, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and four step-children.
