Chanute --- Kenneth Jacob Albin, 84, formerly of Chanute, died Wednesday at Fredonia Regional Medical Center. He had lived at Beverly Healthcare Center in Fredonia since 1999.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Gilbson-Koch-Friskel Chapel with Pastor John Cohee officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery with military honors.
Memorials are suggested to S.K.I.L. of Parsons, Beverly Healthcare Center Rehabilitation Fund or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and they may be left with the funeral home.
Mr. Albin was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Quincy to Fred and Lavinia (Matile) Albin. He attended schools in Quincy and had lived in Wilson and Neosho counties before moving to Chanute in 1966 from Buffalo.
He married Alice Gulick on July 7, 1941 in Eureka and she died in 2003.
Mr. Albin served in the U. S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II, receiving the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Meal.
He was a tree trimmer and farmer. Mr. Albin was a member of Grant Avenue Baptist Church, a life member of the V.F.W., and the Chanute Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Oliver, Burlington, Danny Gulick, of Texas, and Freddie Albin, Coffeyville; eight daughters, Marjorie Sanders, of Virginia, Anne Kavanaugh, Quincy, Mass., Gracye Powell, Iola, Alice Gulick, of Texas, Marilyn Hudson, Freda Gericke and Jeanette Pruitt, all of Chanute, and Martha Wooten, Fredonia; a brother, William Albin, Madison; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
