HICKORY - Grady David Crump Sr., 75, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2012, at his residence after a period of declining health. Grady was born Sept. 27, 1937, in Catawba Co., to the late Jones Edward and Margaret Gobel Crump. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Clark Crump; two brothers; and two sisters. He was a member of Penelope Baptist Church and a former Town of Long View alderman for 20 years. He was a veteran of the North Carolina National Guard, American Legion Post #48, Hickory. Survivors include a son, Grady Crump, Jr. and wife, Angel, of Connelly Springs; a daughter, Julie Evans and husband, Mike, of Hudson; three grand-daughters, Danielle Cor-nette and husband, Frankie, of Hickory, Alicia McGee and Eric, of Cajah's Mtn, and Amanda Evans, of Hudson; one grandson, Michael Evans, II, of Hudson; one great-granddaughter, Khloe Faith Cornette, of Hickory; two brothers, William H. Crump, of Connelly Springs and Kenneth Crump, of Shelby; three sisters, Sarah Eckard, of Hickory, Betty Blackburn, of Newton and Marjorie McDermott, of Concord. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. at Penelope Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening, (Tuesday, Oct. 30), from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Grady Crump, Jr., Frankie Cornette, Eric McGee, Ronnie Johnson, Sam Portis and Tim Blackburn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Blackburn, Bill Burkamps and Ed Crump. Memorials may be made to Penelope Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3310 Main Ave., NW, Hickory, NC 28601. Hickory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
