Verless Burkett age 87 of Gatlinburg, TN went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2005 at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

Verless was a member of Oldhams Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Burkett; parents, Halk and Dicia Clabo Burkett; children, Roy Burkett, Betty Burkett and Harley Burkett; sisters, Stella Ownby Iva Lee Clabo, Isalee Huskey and Hazel Miller; half brother Ashley Moore.

Verless is survived by his children, Robert Burkett and wife Irene, of Gatlinburg, Pauline Ogle and husband Thomas of Dandridge, Mary Loveday and husband Glenn of Sevierville, Martha Hurst and husband Gary of Sevierville, Helen Blalock and husband Dwight of Seviervillle, Lillie Whaley and husband James of Maryville, David Burkett and wife Teresa of Gatlinburg, Earnie Burkett and wife Susan of Sevierville, Ray Burkett and wife Joyce of Gatlinburg, John Burkett and wife Jamie of Gatlinburg, Blanche Teague of Gatlinburg, Della Hodges and husband Lee of Kodak, James Burkett and wife Regina of Gatlinburg; brother-in-law, Harold Ownby and wife Laura of Gatlinburg, sisters-in-law, Ruth Maples of Knoxville, and Pauline Cardwell of Florida. Verless will be greatly missed by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dee Wilson, Rev. Jerry Colbert and Rev. David Carver officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 7, 2005 in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens in Pigeon Forge. The family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
