Catherine Leek Fife was born in Upper St. Clair, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania to Willam John and Mary (Thomas) Fife. She was a twin to her sister Elizabeth.

Her siblings were: Lydia, William, Nancy, James, Martha, twins Josiah and Samuel, Mary, Margaret, and Isabella.

She married Francis Marion Tyner in August of 1862. They had six children: Richard, James, Lizzie, Minnie, Fannie and Harry.

Francis died 22 Feb 1877 in Tyner, Marshall County, Indiana. Following his death, Catherine and the children moved to Salem, Columbiana County, Ohio where she died.
