Heat Contributed To Fatal Illness
VICTIM HAD BEEN WORKING ALL DAY – WAS STRICKEN ABOUT NINE O'CLOCK
Had Lived In Madison County For Thirty-Seven Years – Survived By Widow and Five Children
Michael Gahimer, age 69 prominent farmer, living near Linwood, died suddenly last night at 9 o'clock at the family home. Mr. Gahimer was stricken ill about half an hour before the death occurred. Coroner Earl Sells states that apoplexy was the cause of death. The funeral with be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Linwood church, with burial in Park View Cemetery at Alexandria.
Mr. Gahimer worked all day yesterday, and the intense heat may have contributed to his illness. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Caroline Gahimer, and five children; Mrs. L. W. Funk, Anderson; Mrs. Florence Maddox, Alexandria; Edward Gahimer, Anderson; David Gahimer, Linwood, and Joseph Gahimer, Alexandria; six brothers, a sister, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gahimer was born in Rush county in 1855. He was married on March 28, 1875, to Caroline Theobolt. For thirty-seven years Mr. Gahimer had lived near Linwood. He owned two farms and was a successful and prosperous farmer. He was well known throughout the county.
