Sylvia Jane Lawrence, 71 passed away on Tuesday October 6, 2009 at Green Mt. Nursing Home in Colchester. She was born on December 25, 1937 in Burlington, VT daughter of the late Ramon and Helen (Bernaby) Lawrence of Jericho. Sylvia graduated high school in Jericho and College at the University of Vermont in 1959. She had a deep love for family and animals, especially dogs. Sylvia was well known by all the dogs and dog owners near where she lived, she always had just the right sized dog cookie in her purse. She was proud to have been sober for over 30 years and spent much of her life helping others through Alcoholics Anonymous.
She is survived by:
Her two sons and their families:
Rod Ely his wife Carla and their children Kristen and Brent of Stowe;
Ray Ely his wife Laurie and their children Sam and Adam of Essex;
A brother Ramon Lawrence Jr. of Milton;
Several nieces, nephews, cousins;
Two close friends Ann Martin of Jericho
And Joyce Lawrence of Essex.
She was also predeceased by her brother Robert Lawrence.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Reiss and the staff at Green Mountain Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave to Sylvia.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday October 12, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel. A mass of Christian burial and celebration of her life are still being arranged by the family. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.
